After a report last week in the Puget Sound Business Journal announced Fremont Brewing Company‘s plans to open a Ballard facility, the brewery has now released more details of its new location at 4700 9th Ave NW.

According to a press release sent to My Ballard, Fremont Brewing will move most of its production operations to the 80,000 square foot building, with renovations beginning in May of 2015 with the intent of being fully operational by the fall. The new space will house a new brewhouse and new canning and bottling lines.

The brewery plans on hiring an additional 35 to 40 people to work at the new facility.

“We chose Ballard because of its strong manufacturing base and besides, the new brewery is only one block outside of Fremont. Even though it’s very expensive, we’re committed to remaining in the City and we simply refuse to accept that blue-collar manufacturing jobs can’t coexist in the new Seattle,” said Matt Lincecum, Founder/Owner of Fremont Brewing Company in a press release. “We look forward to forging a tight relationship with our new neighbors in Ballard and continuing our support of Ballard public schools and non-profit community organizations.”

As noted by the Washington Beer Blog, production volume is slated to reach 100,000 barrels per year with the new facility, eight times higher than the number of barrels brewed in 2013. Fremont Brewing’s existing brewery and pub at 3409 Woodland Park Ave. N will remain open, and is also currently undergoing expansion.
