Repairs begin on Golden Gardens Park hillside damaged by landslide

By Joe Veyera

Seattle Parks and Recreation has begun work on a section of Golden Gardens Drive Northwest in Golden Gardens Park as part of a project to repair landslide damage and install drainage in the hillside.

The site, approximately 800 feet north of the intersection with Seaview Avenue Northwest, is in an area where heavy erosion activity and major landslides have occurred. The project is scheduled to run through September 30, and the project’s contractor, Goodfellow Brothers Construction, will conduct work during daylight hours, with traffic limited to one lane at times through the duration of the project. The construction company will have flaggers and construction signage above Golden Gardens Park Off-Leash Area (located northeast of the site) and below the railroad tracks in an effort to manage traffic flow and alert drivers of the work.

Golden Gardens Drive Northwest is one of only two arterial and non-arterial streets through which the heavily-used Shilshole Bay area can be accessed by motor vehicle.
