The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for much of NW Washington, including Seattle and its surroundings.
The warning is in effect now and will remain until 4 a.m. tomorrow morning.
According to the National Weather Service, high winds are likely to develop in Seattle after 6 p.m. this evening. South to southwest winds could rise to gusts of 60 mph this evening which are predicted to ease slowly after midnight.
Strongest winds will occur along Shorelines and locations exposed to southerly wind. Winds will diminish across Western Washington by Daybreak Friday morning.
Winds this strong could topple large trees and the predicted heavy rain may also cause widespread power outages. Strong winds could also impact the evening commute, especially from Seattle northward.
The red marked areas on the map above are predicted to be most affected by the high winds.
