Congratulations to Ballard High School’s boys soccer and girls softball teams for their victories in the Metro League Championships.
The Beaver girls celebrated their 3-1 win over the West Seattle Wildcats on May 15 at the Southwest Athletic Complex. Both teams now advance into this week’s Sea-King District 2 tournament.
BHS boys soccer celebrated a 3-1 win over Roosevelt in the championship match on Friday. The Beavers haven’t had a boys soccer team this strong in nearly 20 years, according to coach Brian Wardlaw. “It’s been a long time since Ballard’s been at playoffs, and obviously to state now,” Wardlaw told KIRO. “We’re excited to be playing in these situations, and I know the boys are really excited too.”
The boys soccer team now plays against Edmonds-Woodway tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Interbay for the first round of the state championships.
