New Fremont brew now on tap

The Fremont Brewing Company just opened last week, and they’re already delivering to a dozen bars in town, including one in Ballard.

Fremont Brewing is the brainchild of a former attorney who is working hard to created a sustainable brewery. Right now The Dray is the only bar serving up the brewery’s new beer in Ballard, but they’ve been in talks with other nearby bars. For more, FremontUniverse.com took a tour of the new brewery.

  1. In order to be a partner in their effort of sustainability I will gladly return the unused portion of their beer, once it has passed through my kidneys.

  2. Yet another reason to haunt The Dray. :-)
Though look forward to the day they introduce something lighter, like a pilsner. Fremont blog says they just have an Ale and an IPA at the moment.

  3. Awesome! I really don't think it's possible to have too many breweries. Coffee shops? Yes. Sushi joints? Yes. Pretentious clothing stores? Yes. Breweries? Hell no!!!

  4. Nice. I especially like their idea of making use of spent grain. I homebrew, and I always end up dumping lots of spent grain, even though I make dog biscuits out of a lot of it.

Looks like their tasting room is right off the Burke-Gilman. Between them and Gilligan's, I'm feeling a bike pub crawl coming on.

  5. Light Beer for light weight! I can drink after an afternoon of drinking, never stop to lift the leg, and keep on packing it away!

Bow Wow, Burp Gurgle, Bow Wow!

  6. 4 cups spent grains (wet), 4 cups flour, 1 cup peanut butter, and an egg or two. Mix up, spread on a cookie sheet, score with a knife, bake for 20 minutes at 425 or so, then dry them out in the oven all night at about 250. Good for humans and dogs.

  7. Damn. Just when I find out about a place the lease is up. Well, I'll find it and do enough drinking to help save it. :-)
    Thanks, Gurple!

  8. Unfortunately, their spent grain has often been stored for days and weeks in open bins on the sidewalk of Albion Pl. Along with blocking the sidewalk, the spilled grain makes great rat food. The liquid runoff is allowed to enter the storm drain that empties into Lake Union. Not very good neighbors

  9. Yikes, that's pretty bad. You'd think they'd want to avoid wrecking such a great PR move with such a lousy effect on the neighborhood. Have you complained to them?
