Woodland Park Zoo is happy to announce the birth of a sloth bear. The baby cub was born on Saturday, December 19th in an off-view cozy maternity den.
The cub is offspring to 3-year mother Kushali and 15-year-old father Bhutan.
Woodland Park Zoo’s sloth bear Tasha with her 4-month-old cubs Randhir and Kushali (the mother of the current cub) who were born in December 2012.
“The mother and newborn cub will remain off view to allow for maternal bonding and continued nursing. Animal care staff is monitoring the new family via den cam to ensure the cub continues to thrive.”
The staff at Woodland Park Zoo are happy to say that mother and baby are doing well, but the cub will continue to be monitored for the first few months to ensure the cub remains healthy and growing.
