Ballard Library (5614 22nd Ave NW) will be hosting the 328th meeting of the “It’s About Time Writers’ Reading Series” next Thursday, February 9, from 6 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. The series is held at the Ballard branch every second Thursday of the month.
This month’s presentation features readings from Thomas Schabarum and Mary Holscher. Marc Barrington will also give a short lecture on “The Writer’s Craft.”
Between the author readings, open mic time will be available for three minutes per person.
The series was founded in 1989 by Esther Helfgott and is dedicated to the memory of Anna Helfgott who began writing at the age of 70 and her teacher Nelson Bentley who helped many learn the craft of writing. The group is now curated by Peggy Sturdivant and Katie Tynan.
“The It’s About Time Writers Reading Series is dedicated to an end of racism, homophobia, antisemitism, homelessness & war,” writes the group on their website.
All aspiring writers are welcome to attend the meeting no matter their writing experience.
