On Saturday, September 9, the Sustainable Ballard Festival will be taking over the Ballard Commons Park from 11am to 4pm. Hosted by local nonprofit Sustainable Ballard, this year’s theme is “Certified Local”, and will focus on ways that community members can “demonstrate their commitment to local sustainable actions.”
“Eclectic, artsy, earthy, urban and committed to a better future… that’s Sustainable Ballard and the 14th Annual Sustainable Ballard Festival. Join this group of Ballard neighbors on Sept 9th at Ballard Commons Park for creativity, passion and community-building while learning about daily practices and big steps toward more sustainable living,” the organizers write.
Amongst this year’s festival activities: apple cider pressing, electric car tours, lounging in a bus cafe, test rides of electric bikes, bubble-wand making, solar cooker demos, birdhouse-building from recycled materials, and food carts aplenty.
The festival is free and open to the public. To volunteer, email volunteer@sustainableballard.org.
