The Sunset Hill Community Association will soon host a public forum to discuss oil trains rolling through Ballard. The “Oil Trains & More” meeting will be on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7pm at the Sunset Hill Community Association.
“Are you concerned about the oil trains rumbling through Ballard? ‘Oil Trains…& More’ is about the trains carrying highly flammable substances through Seattle, along Shilshole Bay and beyond,” the organizers tell My Ballard. City representatives from Seattle Fire, King County Emergency Management, and the Sierra Club will be present to address safety, emergency response, and political aspects of oil trains, and there will also be a discussion about other major fossil fuel projects planned in the Pacific Northwest. Speakers will include District 6 Seattle Councilmember Mike O’Brien, Seattle Fire Department Chief Assistant A.D Vickery, King County Emergency Management External Affairs Manager Barnaby Dow, and Sierra Club representatives.
The forum will be held at the Sunset Hill clubhouse (3003 NW 66th St.) from 7 to 8:30pm.
