A retired fire truck driven by volunteers and Santa will be making its way around Ballard tonight, collecting food for the homeless.
The Fire Truck Food Drive will start at NW 64th St at 5pm, and run between 15th Ave NW and 20th Ave NW, then will go south to 63rd, 62nd, and 61st.
Steve Hickey, the man behind the food drive, explained to the West Seattle Blog that he, “bought the fire trucks for use in his construction business – watering down sites, for example – and then realized they could be used for more.” Hickey has been making his way around the city this week collecting food, with visits to Renton and West Seattle.
The volunteers will accept non-perishables for the Seattle Union Gospel Mission — to learn more, visit the Fire Truck Food Drive Facebook page.
Ahh, yes.
Fire trucks rolling through Ballard – what a novelty.
They will not be running the sirens the entire time.
My point was, and I think you probably got it, that Market is almost nonstop emergency response vehicles to and from Commons Park et al.
Please consider adding 24th NW, 28th Ave NW or 32 Ave NW at NW 65th to your route.
I will let them know. Possibly going to 24th may work.
