Next week, the large lock at the Ballard Locks will close for two days while crews finish work on the emergency closure system.
The US Army Corps of Engineers will close the large chamber to all vessel traffic from 7am to 5pm on Jan. 24 and 25 (Thursday and Friday) to finish work they couldn’t complete during the December closure. The contractor will be replacing a wire rope, reconditioning a portion of the emergency closure system and performing tests.
The small lock will remain open during the closure.
