Bloodworks Northwest is seeing a spike in the need for blood by our regions trauma centers reinforcing the importance of having a ready blood supply at all times. Right now, we’re providing more blood to local hospitals than is being collected locally. Our community must help close the gap! In past seven days, Bloodworks Northwest has provided 270 more units of blood and platelets than were donated, causing our Type O blood supply to drop to critically low levels. Please don’t leave lifesaving care up to luck! Thousands of available donation openings across the region this month that need to be filled. And in case you haven’t heard, Bloodworks has reinstated eligibility for donors who were previously deferred from blood donation due to travel/residence in the UK, France, or Ireland after recent updated guidance from the FDA.
