You Don’t Dance?

That’s ok! You can take the beginner lesson, or just sit back and enjoy the music and dancing.

What is Swing Dancing?

Swing dancing is an umbrella term for a family of Black American dances that were done to swinging Big Band Jazz music.

The Beginner Lesson will teach basic East Coast Swing, which is dance derived from Lindy Hop (the original Swing dance).

Each DJ at our dances will play from their own collection of historic and contemporary swing dance music.

Babies on the Move!

Feel free to bring your family, we want kids to feel welcome to come and participate in what ways interest them, but parents are responsible for them.

Because parents may have infants and other kids in tow please keep an extra eye on where you’re stepping around the dance floor! Likewise if you’re dancing with (or around) someone who is baby-carrying, please be mindful and give them a wide berth (pun intended lol).

Payment Method

This dance runs on a pay-what-you-can model (suggested $15), and on the honor system.

You can pay by scanning the QR code (for Venmo or Square) at the door, or in advance on the website www.fluidandformless.com/sunshine.

We believe financial hardship shouldn’t stand in the way of learning and enjoying swing dancing!  If you’re able to pay more, you can help support this dance and lower the barrier for others.

Parking

Phinney Center has lots of parking in their two lots; however, between June 7 – September 27 park in the lower lot, as the Phinney Farmer’s Market vendors will be setting up in the upper parking lot. They will tow cars parked the upper lot.

Please disregard the signs that say “no public parking” they are just meant to dissuade people from parking there who aren’t going to activities at the Phinney Center.
