Speaks Her Mind is sponsoring a rally at Green Lake this Sunday, February 26 at 2 pm. Called Take Back Our Bodies, the group is protesting the proposed national ban of Mifepristone, the drug that is used in over half of abortions in the US today.

“This is the moment,“ said rally organizer Manya Vee. “That judge’s decision could come as early as next week.”

The proposed ban comes from a lawsuit filed by abortion opponents in district court in Amarillo, Texas. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee known for his conservative Christian ideals, is presiding. Over twenty Republican states attorney general have filed amicus briefs supporting the lawsuit.

If the lawsuit succeeds, Mifepristone will likely be banned in all fifty states.

The Take Back Our Bodies protest is being held on the lawn opposite Green Lake library on the east side of Green Lake. The protest will feature speeches by local activists, followed by a short Q&A. The public is welcome and invited to attend.
